Mentor Mentee Mixer!
Woohooo! What a party it was on November 30th, as Diane said. But yeah it was pretty awesome. I had a great time as I’m sure everyone else did. We started out with snacks - and of course the famous Kettle Corn. The Youth Insights Leaders (YIL) love the kettle corn- can’t live without it. And yea that’s right we are the leaders! There were also some chips and fruit. And some chocolate kitty cookies which Sahkia would not put down for some reason - go figure. Me, Eve, and most YIL fellows (but mostly Eve) were disappointed when Yasmin didn’t bring in her thanksgiving left overs. She couldn’t bring in that tasty pie - ight Yasmin that’s how you feel for ‘09 (insider). After our food snacking and debacles we got under away with our intros - one thing we always do. And of course I have the school with the longer name - High School for Health Professions and Human Services (I needed like 3 pauses O.o). After intros we went around saying what we do and if there is something interesting we got going on. Apparently we have a lot going on (as Diane knows) we are some interesting people =).
All the mentors were really cool, giddy, excited, and had a lot to say. We thank them for taking their time off out of their busy schedules. My mentor was Julie Thomson and she is the coordinator of Public Programs. We had an interesting conversation about what she does in the program, architecture, architects, and the city. We also got to do a business card exchange =). I am really looking forward for the rest of the mentoring program and I’m sure everyone else is as well. In the end I learned a lot from everyone and what they do as being part of the Whitney Museum. Mentor Mentee Mixer day was great and even thou Diane was sick she made a great host!
Happy Mentoring!
